3D Secure - We're preparing new security method of paying with your card on the Internet

Newly, you will be able to confirm payments on the internet in an easier, faster and even more secure way than before in accordance with European directives. You will no longer need to re‑write any codes from an SMS message thanks to push notifications in your Smart Banking / Smart key application.



From January 2021, you will use the Smart Banking application on your mobile phone to confirm your internet payments instead of using the SMS code, as has been the case so far. Make sure you have the application pre-installed and activated.




  1. Enter your card payment in an online shop and you will receive a “push notification” on your mobile phone, asking you to confirm the payment.
  2. After clicking on the received notification you will be automatically redirected to the payment authorisation page in your Smart Banking/Smart key application.
  3. Confirm your card payment just like your payments in the Smart Banking/Smart key application using your biometric data (e.g. finger print) or PIN.

If you are using Internet Banking:

  1. In your Internet Banking, go to: Account Details – Mobile Services – Smart Banking.
  2. We will send you the activation codes via SMS (Please note: we will send you the activation codes the next working day).
  3. Open the application on your mobile phone and activate it using your Internet Banking user ID and the codes you received in the SMS.

If you are not using Internet Banking, you may activate Smart Banking via our Infoline +420 221 210 031. Our colleagues will send you the activation codes or you can request these codes at any branch of our bank.

To be able to use the new method of confirming card payments on the internet, it is necessary that you have your phone connected to the internet and that you have enabled the receipt of so-called "push notifications" in your mobile device and in the Smart Banking/Smart key application. Please check this setting. Simple guide how to set up push notifications is available on our website in section Digital.

Although we will fully support the new, more modern and more secure way of 3D Secure security from January 2021, you may on rare occasions encounter cases where you will be asked for the authentication by entering the code from the SMS message.



  • Our applications follow the highest security standards.
  • Owing to a number of protective features, the mobile application is well‑protected against cyber-attacks.
  • The entire communication with the bank via the application is encrypted.
  • The Smart Banking application is linked directly to your mobile phone; however, no sensitive information is stored.
  • All your logins and payment signing in the application are protected by PIN, fingerprint or Face ID.
  • The PIN is unique, because you choose it yourself and it must contain 6 to 8 digits.
  • If the PIN is entered incorrectly three times in a row, the user will be blocked.
  • You will be automatically logged off from the application after 3 minutes of inactivity.
  • The maximum amount you can send via mobile banking is CZK 50 000.
