UniCredit Bank named Best Bank 2009

UniCredit Bank took 1st place in the Best Bank 2009 competition, the results of which have just been announced by Hospodářské noviny. The fourth-largest banking institution in the domestic market took the top prize in this competition thanks to its advantageous offer of products and services for clients and with a view to its operating performance. The key parameters were examined through a detailed analysis that was based upon a whole range of information.

We are delighted with UniCredit Bank's success in the first year of the Best Bank 2009 competition, even though competitions of this type in the banking sector do not represent an entirely clear and precise measure. Every bank has its own strategy that is approved by its shareholders and for whom it is important to create value through satisfying all the other participants in the banking market - clients, employees, and regulators. If someone were to ask me whether first place represents a big surprise, I would answer that it is no surprise at all. In a contest where quality of services, approach to clients and profitability are evaluated, UniCredit Bank naturally is going to be in a leading position, remarked Jiří Kunert, UniCredit Bank's Chairman of the Board and CEO.

UniCredit Bank is the fourth-largest bank in the Czech Republic. From an international viewpoint, it is a part of UniCredit Group, which is the most prominent banking group in Europe. UniCredit Group presently is operating actively in 22 countries and has 10,200 branches. It was created in the late months of 2007 in a merger of HVB Bank and Živnostenská banka. In being awarded this prize, UniCredit Bank joins other banks within the Group that have also been recognised as being the best banks in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria and Poland.
